How Does Tempy Work?

Tempy consists of wireless sensors, a cloud-connected gateway, and a responsive web portal giving you access to your climate data from anywhere in the world.

How Does the Tempy System Work?

Cloud Connectivity

Tempy is a cloud-based climate sensing system which means that all collected sensor data is stored in the cloud (via the internet) allowing it to be accessed through our web portal from anywhere in the world.  In addition to the benefits of remote access to your live/historical data, you can also manage your Tempy sensor from anywhere in the world to create custom monitoring conditions and alerts on the fly, all on your phone, tablet or desktop.

Device Communication

Tempy consists of sensors and gateways. Tempy sensors are an all-in-one, wireless sensing device that collects temperature, humidity, and air-pressure data and “passes” it to a Tempy gateway. The Tempy gateway is a wired, internet connected device that receives the data collected by the Tempy sensors then sends it to the cloud. Once in the cloud, all Tempy sensor data can be accessed and visualized through our online web application. Tempy sensors have a communication range of up to 4000 ft (1200 m) with Tempy gateways in optimal conditions and will automatically start transmitting data once in range.

The Tempy Network

The Tempy wireless network is a low-power local area network (LPLAN) that’s been specifically designed for the connectivity of ultra-low-power Tempy devices. Much like the Bluetooth and Wi-Fi network connectivity protocols, the Tempy wireless network runs on the 2.4 GHz frequency spectrum but offers a much wider range of connectivity and significantly less power consumption from the devices themselves. In optimal conditions, Tempy Sensors will have a connectivity ranges of up to 4000 ft (1200 m) with the internet connected Tempy Gateway. The way the Tempy network works, is that end nodes (Tempy Sensors) communicate with a Tempy Gateway which relays all data collected by the sensors to and from the cloud.
